Creating templates for forms, emails, and more in Dubsado will save you time and stress when a new client comes in. Instead of scrambling to put together a new contract or typing out all the details of each item on an invoice, you can have a library of all of your templates ready to go!

Once you've set up your brand and other important settings, creating templates is the first area you will want to tackle when setting up Dubsado.

Here's a quick intro to the different types of templates Dubsado has. You will find each of these in the main menu under TEMPLATES.

Packages are templates for line items on invoices.

Anything with a price point in your business should be set up as a Package. Each Package can contain a single line item or multiple line items if you are bundling services together. Once you've created Packages, you can easily add them to an invoice or display them on a proposal for your client to choose from. Learn how to create Packages here.

Forms make it easy to collect the information you need from your clients.

Dubsado has five different types of forms: Contracts, Sub-Agreements, Questionnaires, Proposals, and Lead Captures. Forms allow you to collect and/or share information with your clients. Each type of form template has its own unique abilities and purpose.

Canned emails will save you from typing out the same email again and again.

Have you ever sent the same email to more than three clients? Chances are, you should create it as a Canned Email so that you can save yourself some time and make your client communication more consistent from project to project. You'll be able to choose from your Canned Email templates when sending emails to your clients. Learn how to create Canned Emails here.

Payment Schedules allow you to break invoices down into installments.

If you frequently charge a deposit up front or split your clients' payments into three installments, you'll want to create a Payment Schedule template. This template allows you to define due dates and amounts as well as automatic payment reminders. When you apply a Payment Schedule template to an invoice, it will break down the invoice total automatically according to the schedule. Learn how to set up Payment Schedules here.

Scheduler templates give your clients the ability to book an appointment with you.

Creating a Scheduler allows your clients to choose a date and time from the availability you set. Scheduler templates also store additional settings such as a meeting location, custom confirmation and reminder emails, an attached form, required deposit, and more. If you have more than one type of appointment (i.e. consultations vs. paid sessions), each appointment type will be set up in its own Scheduler Template. Learn how to set up a Scheduler template step-by-step.

TIP: We recommend creating your Scheduler templates towards the end, since they can be complex to set up and may require packages, forms, and canned emails to have already been created.

Workflows are an automated series of steps that Dubsado will run on your behalf.

Workflows are templates, too! Once a Workflow template is created, it can be applied to any of your projects to start running. Creating a Workflow template on its own will not run any actions - it must be applied to a project first.

Workflows are the most powerful and complex feature Dubsado has to offer, so we recommend setting them up at the very end. We strongly recommend completing all of Step 1 and Step 2 on our Setup Checklist before tackling Workflows.
