The main purpose of the Lead Capture is to... capture information! Your form must be set up correctly so that Dubsado can collect the information and store it the right way.

To create a new Lead Capture form, head to TEMPLATES >> FORMS and click the + button next to Lead Capture.
Building Your Lead Capture
REQUIRED Mapped Fields
Every Lead Capture form MUST have three separate short answer fields mapped to the Client First Name, Last Name, and Email Address.
If you are missing these fields or did not map them, the client's information will not be stored correctly in Dubsado. Mapping a field means telling Dubsado which information will be entered when a client fills out a form so that it can be saved in the right place.
In fact, first name, last name, and email are so important, we include them by default any time you create a new Lead Capture!
But if you deleted them by accident, here's what to do:
Add a Short Answer question to your form.
Click on the element to edit the options for that question.
Under "Question," enter the text you would like the client to see when they are filling out the form. For example, "First Name."
Under "Maps to," click on the dropdown to tell Dubsado where you want to save the answer to this question. For example, if you are asking for the client's first name, you will need to map that field to "Client First Name."
Check the "Required?" box to make sure the client can't submit the form without answering the question.
Repeat until you have mapped fields for the Client First Name, Last Name, and Email Address.
After you have those three required fields, you can continue building the rest of your form. You might already have a contact form on your website that you would like to use as a guide during this process.
Can I just use one field for the client's full name?
No, you must use two separate fields. The first name and last name must be collected in separate fields to save the information correctly.
What else should go on my Lead Capture form?
In short, you should ask any questions you need to get started with your new lead. Most Lead Captures ask for basic contact information along with a few qualifying questions, such as what the client is looking for or if they have a specific date in mind.
As a rule of thumb, the longer your Lead Capture form is, the fewer people will fill it out. Your goal is to strike a balance between qualifying your new leads and not scaring away new clients with a long, complex form. You can always send a longer questionnaire later on in your process to collect any additional info you need.
Collecting Dates and Times
Date Select fields can also be mapped, so if you would like a new lead to go straight on your calendar, add in a Date Select field and map it to the Job Date. This will set the date the client enters as the Project Date on the new project created by Dubsado when the Lead Capture is submitted.
If you use two Date Select fields and map them to the Job Start Date and Job End Date, the client will be able to enter a specific time along with the date.
Mapping Other Fields
You may also notice that there are a number of options in the "Maps to" dropdown. Additional information such as the client's address, an alternate contact (great for couples getting married), and social media profile links can also be mapped to short answer fields. You can also create your own custom mapped fields if there is information specific to your business that you would like to collect.
Free Response, Yes/No, Dropdowns, and Checkboxes CANNOT be mapped at this time.
Do I need to map every single field on my form?
No. If a field is not mapped, you will still be able to open up the completed Lead Capture form within the new client's project under the Forms tab and read all of their responses. For example, a Free Response field cannot be mapped, but you can open up the form and read what the client entered in. Just head to the Forms tab within the project created by the Lead Capture and click "View" on the Lead Capture form to see the all of the client's responses.
Fields only need to be mapped when the information that will be submitted needs to be used elsewhere in Dubsado. A client's first name, for example, will be used throughout the system to identify the client and can be displayed within a canned email using a smart field.
Lead Capture Options
Once you're happy with the layout of your form, click on the Settings tab at the top to customize additional options.
1. Default Workflow
If you would like a workflow to kick off automatically on the newly created project when the Lead Capture is submitted, you can specify that workflow in the dropdown here. Check out our article on automated lead capture workflows for more info!
2. Thank You Message
This is the text that will display after the Lead Capture form is submitted. Only plain text is allowed here.
3. Redirect URL
If you would like a new page to open up when your Lead Capture form is submitted instead of displaying the Thank You Message, paste in the URL to that page here.
This is a great option if you have created a custom thank you page on your website. Please note that you cannot use the Redirect URL on a Lead Capture to open a Dubsado Scheduler or another Dubsado form, such as a questionnaire.
4. Project Status
The default project status where all newly created projects from this Lead Capture will go. If you leave this blank, the project status will appear under All Leads on the projects page.
5. Lead Title
The default title of all newly created projects by this Lead Capture. If you leave this blank, the default title is the name of the Lead Capture form.
You can add Smart Fields for Client variables to your title for additional customization! Just click on the "Client" dropdown and select a variable to add it to the title.
In the example above, we used the Client First Name and Alt Contact First Name smart fields to title the project with the couple's first names. Remember that you must first capture the information in a mapped field on your Lead Capture if you want to display it using a smart field!
When you're finished building your form, don't forget to SAVE! Then you can share your Lead Capture form by embedding it on your website or sharing a direct link.
