You can accept credit card payments via Square on your Dubsado invoices. Square can be connected on its own, or you can use it in addition to PayPal.

Connect with Square

  1. Log out of your Square account.

  2. Go to Settings (gear icon) >> Receive Money.

  3. If prompted, enter your Base Country and Currency, then click Save.

  4. Click Connect with Square. A Square login screen will load.

  5. Log into your Square account.

After logging into Square, you'll be directed back to the Receive Money settings in Dubsado. The option to Accept Credit Card Payments will be checked and clients will be able to pay with credit card when they click the Pay Now button on your invoices.

Square checkout process

When your client clicks the Pay Now button on an invoice, they can fill out their billing information and credit card details to check out with Square.

Does Square charge a payment processing fee?

Yes. You can review Square's processing fees for e-Commerce transactions on their website. Dubsado does not collect any additional fees on top of the processing fee!

How long does it take to receive payments from Square?

Processing times can vary and are determined by the processor. We recommend reaching out to Square directly with any questions on processing times!

What if I have multiple Square locations under one Square login?

While it's not possible for you to see which location connects with Dubsado, you can always send us a chat or email to have us check for you! We can also change the Square location where you'll receive Dubsado payments if needed.

What information will I see in Square for each transaction?

Only the amount paid will be visible in Square. At this time, the client's name and email address are not able to be stored with the payment. If this is a priority, we recommend connecting with Stripe instead.

Will this work with my Square card reader?

No. The Dubsado integration with Square is limited to online payments initiated from Dubsado invoices. If you take payment by card reader in person, it will not be automatically applied to a Dubsado invoice, but you can manually apply a payment after the fact.
