Add hyperlinks to your forms to direct clients to outside websites, resources, or calls to action. Using the text box element in the form builder, you can insert a text link, a button link, or a clickable image.

Access the form builder

To insert a hyperlink on a form, you first need to open a form in the form builder.

  1. Navigate to Forms ➔ Form templates.

  2. Select a form template, or create a new one.

  3. The form opens in the form builder.

You can also edit forms applied to a project. Open the project, click the Forms tab, and select a form to edit.

All three hyperlink types below use the Text Box element from the elements panel.

Add a text hyperlink

Text links let you point clients to an outside resource directly from your form.

  1. Click Text Box in the elements panel to add a text box to the form.

  2. Double-click the text box (or click the pencil icon) to edit.

  3. Type the text you want to turn into a hyperlink.

  4. Highlight the text.

  5. Click the Insert link icon in the formatting toolbar.

  6. Paste the URL.

  7. Check Open link in new tab if you want the link to open in a new browser tab (optional).

  8. Click Save.

You can style the linked text like any other text. Highlight it to change the color, alignment, or other formatting using the formatting options in the toolbar.

Add a button hyperlink

Button links are a great way to draw attention to a call to action on your form.

  1. Click Text Box in the elements panel to add a text box to the form.

  2. Double-click the text box (or click the pencil icon) to edit.

  3. Position your cursor where you want the button to appear. Buttons look best on their own line.

  4. Click the Insert link icon in the formatting toolbar.

  5. Paste the URL and enter the text for the button.

  6. Check Open link in new tab if you want the link to open in a new browser tab (optional).

  7. Check Button.

  8. Click Save.

The button color is based on your brand color in Settings ➔ Styling. To change the alignment, place your cursor inside the button and click one of the alignment options in the toolbar.

Add an image or GIF hyperlink

You can make an image or GIF clickable so it links to a URL.

  1. Click Text Box in the elements panel to add a text box to the form.

  2. Double-click the text box (or click the pencil icon) to edit.

  3. Position your cursor where you want the image to appear.

  4. Click Insert image (picture frame icon) and upload your image or GIF.

  5. Click the image in the text box. Additional formatting options appear.

  6. Click Insert link.

  7. Paste the URL.

  8. Check Open link in new tab if you want the link to open in a new browser tab (optional).

  9. Click Insert.

Images and GIFs must be under 8 MB.

Edit or remove a hyperlink

You can update or remove any hyperlink you have added to a text box.

  1. Double-click the text box to edit.

  2. Click the hyperlink. Additional options appear.

  3. Select Edit link to change the URL, or Remove link to remove the link.

FAQ

Can I add a hyperlink to elements other than text boxes?

No. Hyperlinks — text links, button links, and image links — are only available through the text box element's formatting toolbar. The standalone image element does not support hyperlinks.

Why does my button link color not match my brand?

The button link color is based on the brand color set in Settings ➔ Styling. If you recently changed your brand color, check that the update has been saved.

Will my client lose their form progress if they click a hyperlink?

If you check Open link in new tab when inserting the link, the link opens in a new browser tab and the form stays open. If you do not check this box, the client navigates away from the form.
