If you have a contract that was already signed on paper or in another system, you can upload a PDF copy into the project in Dubsado to keep all your records in one place.
Upload a PDF of a signed contract
Follow these steps when no contract is currently assigned to the project.
Go to Projects and select the project.
In the Project info card, find the Contract row.
Click the Add a contract dropdown.
At the top of the template list, click Upload PDF as signed contract.
Select a PDF file from your computer.
Dubsado uses the PDF filename (without the extension) as the contract title. The contract appears in the project with a Signed status chip.
Uploading a signed contract does not send your client any automated contract emails.
Replace an existing contract with a signed PDF
If a contract is already assigned to the project, you need to remove it before you can upload a signed PDF. This applies when, for example, you sent a Dubsado contract to your client and they printed it out and signed it by hand.
Removing a signed contract deletes the signed record from the project. Make sure you have a copy of the signed PDF before removing.
Go to Projects and select the project.
In the Project info card, find the Contract row and click the contract title to open the dropdown menu.
Click Remove.
In the confirmation dialog, click Remove to confirm.
Once the contract is removed, the Add a contract dropdown reappears. Follow the steps in the section above to upload your signed PDF.
FAQ
Can I upload an unsigned PDF as a contract?
You can, but the uploaded file is read-only — your client cannot e-sign it through Dubsado. If you want your client to sign a contract electronically, build it as a contract template in the form builder and send it for e-signature.
If you'd rather not rebuild the contract from scratch, Dubsado offers a free form re-creation service. Email your forms to forms@dubsado.com and the team will recreate up to 10 outside forms as Dubsado templates for free. Allow 3–4 business days for turnaround. Government documents cannot be recreated through this service.
What file types and sizes are accepted?
Only PDF files are accepted. Dubsado supports PDF uploads up to 8 MB.
