Control whether clients can reschedule their booked appointments by enabling a per-scheduler setting in Dubsado. When turned on, the reschedule option is removed from the client portal and new calendar invites, and clients who visit old reschedule links see a message directing them to contact you.
Enable the setting on a scheduler template
To turn on the setting from a scheduler template, open the template from Events in the left-hand navigation menu.
Navigate to Events β Scheduler Templates and select the template you want to update.
Click the Advanced tab.
Open the Limits card.
Toggle on Prevent clients from rescheduling.
Your changes save automatically.
Enable the setting on a project scheduler
If a scheduler has already been applied to a project, you can turn the setting on or off directly from the project without touching the original template.
Navigate to Projects and select the project.
Click the Events tab.
Select the scheduler you want to update under All Schedulers.
Click the Advanced tab.
Open the Limits card.
Toggle on Prevent clients from rescheduling.
Your changes save automatically.
Changing this setting on a project scheduler only affects that project's copy. The original template is not changed.
What happens when the setting is enabled
Once the setting is on, clients interacting with appointments booked through that scheduler will see a different experience.
The Reschedule option no longer appears in the client portal for appointments booked through this scheduler. Clients can still cancel.
New calendar invites sent after the setting is enabled do not include a reschedule link.
If a client follows an old reschedule link from a previous email or an existing calendar invite, they see the message: "Reschedules are not allowed. Please contact [Your Workspace Name] if you need to make changes."
Existing calendar invites still contain the reschedule link, but clients who click it see a message telling them to contact you instead.
FAQ
Does this setting affect all of my schedulers at once?
No. The setting applies per scheduler. You can allow rescheduling on some schedulers and prevent it on others.
Can clients still cancel appointments when rescheduling is prevented?
Yes. This setting only removes the reschedule option. Clients can still cancel appointments from the client portal, calendar events, or confirmation and reminder emails if the cancellation link was included in them.
What is the default for new scheduler templates?
When you create a new scheduler template, the Prevent clients from rescheduling setting is off by default, meaning clients are allowed to reschedule.
If I turn this on, what happens to appointments that were already booked?
