The general inbox in the Dubsado mobile app allows you to keep track of all your client communication with ease, even while you’re away from your desk.

Overview of the general inbox

The general inbox functions the same way on both the Dubsado mobile app and the desktop site.

If a client whose email address is saved in your Dubsado address book sends an email to the email address that’s connected to your Dubsado brand, that email gets forwarded into Dubsado. The forwarded email appears within the general inbox, and if that email is a reply to an existing project email thread, it will also appear within that thread in the project’s Emails tab.

Keep in mind that if the sender of an email does not exist in your Dubsado address book, emails received from that sender can’t be forwarded into Dubsado.

To add a client to your Dubsado address book, head to the More tab of the mobile app and tap Clients ➔ plus (+). Or, on desktop, head to Utilities ➔ Address Book ➔ Add Client.

To make changes to your email settings, log in to Dubsado’s desktop site and navigate to Settings ➔ Emails.

Viewing emails in the general inbox

To view the emails in your general inbox on the mobile app, tap Inbox in the main navigation menu at the bottom of the screen. Here, you can see a full list of the emails you’ve received from your Dubsado clients.

Emails are listed in chronological order, with the newest emails displayed at the top of the page. In each email entry, the client’s name is listed first, followed by the email’s subject line. Below the subject line, you’ll see preview of the message.

If the email is a part of an existing project email thread, the project the email is assigned to is also displayed.

Tapping on an email from the list allows you to immediately begin composing a reply.

Assigning an email to a project

If you receive an email from one of your Dubsado clients and the email isn’t a part of an existing email thread in Dubsado, the email only appears within the general inbox. But, you can easily assign that email to its correlating project so that you can view all of your email correspondence regarding that project in one place.

To assign an email to a project:

  • Tap the three dots (…) icon on the righthand side of the screen.

  • Tap Assign a project.

  • Then, choose the desired project from the list.

Once you’ve assigned an email to a project, that email can be viewed from the selected project’s Emails tab.

Heads up! Once an email is assigned to a project, it cannot be unassigned or reassigned to a different project.

After an email has been assigned to a particular project, it will remain in the general inbox by default. But, if you prefer to clear out your general inbox as you go, you can easily remove emails from the general inbox if you wish.

Archiving or deleting an email from the general inbox

To remove an email from the general inbox, you can choose to archive or delete the email. Archiving or deleting an email from the general inbox does not delete the email from Dubsado.

If an email is assigned to a project and is then archived, that email can still be found within that project’s Emails tab. Likewise, if an email is not assigned to a project and it is deleted from the general inbox, it can still be found within the client’s address book entry.

To archive or delete an email within the general inbox, tap the three dots (…) icon on the righthand side of the page.

If the email is assigned to a project, tap Archive. If the email isn’t assigned to a project, tap Delete.
