Require a package on a proposal

How to pre-select a package on a proposal and remove the Select button so clients cannot deselect it.

When you want a client to accept a specific package with no option to remove it, you can require a package on your proposal. This combines two form builder settings: pre-selecting the package so it is already chosen when the client opens the proposal, and removing the Select button so the client cannot deselect it.

When to require a package

Requiring a package works best in a couple of common situations. You offer one main package that every client must accept, alongside optional add-ons they can choose from. Or you have put together a tailored package for a specific client and do not want to present alternatives they could swap to instead.

The process has two parts: toggling the package to pre-selected, then removing the Select button from the package text. Both steps are required.

Pre-selecting a package alone is not enough. The client can still click the package to deselect it. You must also remove the Select button to fully require the package.

  1. Go to Forms βž” Form Templates and select the proposal template you want to edit.

  2. In the form builder, click the package element you want to require. The element settings panel opens.

  3. In the element settings panel, toggle Pre-selected to Yes.

  4. Click the package element on the canvas to enter inline editing mode. A rich-text editor opens with a check icon and an X icon in the hover bar.

  5. In the editor, select the Select button text and delete it.

  6. Click the check icon to confirm your edits, then save the form.

When a client opens the proposal, the package cost is already included in the total and there is no button to deselect it.

FAQ

Why do I need to delete the Select button? Is toggling Pre-selected enough?

Pre-selecting a package makes it already chosen when a client opens the proposal, but the client can still click the package to remove the selection. Deleting the Select button removes the ability to deselect, making the package truly required.

I want to offer add-on packages, but I get the error "Oops. You can only select one package."

In the form builder, click the Settings tab. Under Proposal options, toggle Multiple packages can be selected to Yes. This allows clients to select more than one package, so the required package does not block them from also choosing add-ons.

Can I require a certain number of packages from a group (for example, one from Group A and two from Group B)?

This is not supported. If you need clients to choose from specific groupings, consider adding clear instructions in a text element on your proposal.
