Customize URL metadata

Set the browser tab title, favicon, and social media preview details that show up whenever you share a client-facing link.

Written by Trevor

When you share a form, client portal, invoice, or scheduler, you're sending your client a link to a web page, and you can control how that page looks in a browser tab and in social media previews. URL meta details let you set the browser tab title, favicon, social media preview description, and preview image so every client-facing link reflects your brand.

Getting to URL meta details

Go to Settings ➔ URL customization. The page holds two cards: Custom domain setup at the top, and URL meta details below it. This article covers URL meta details; the same page is also where you connect a custom domain.

You don't need a custom domain to use these settings. They apply to your standard Dubsado links too.

Setting your URL meta details

The URL meta details card holds four fields and uploaders that control how your client-facing links appear, plus the Save button that applies them.

Browser tab title

The Browser tab title field sets the text shown in the browser tab and in social media link previews. This could be your business name.

Social media preview description

The Social media preview description field sets the text some social sites generate as a preview when a client-facing link is shared. Keep it short and general to your business.

Browser tab favicon

The Browser tab favicon uploader sets the small icon that appears in a browser tab next to your Browser tab title. Click Upload image, or drag and drop a file onto the uploader, to set it. Once a favicon is set, a Remove button lets you clear it.

Your favicon file must be:

  • 16 x 16 pixels

  • PNG, JPG, or GIF format

  • Under 5 MB

Use an image with a transparent background so your favicon works well in both light and dark mode.

Social media preview image

The Social media preview image uploader sets the image shown when a client-facing link is shared on social media. It uses the same Upload image and Remove controls as the favicon uploader.

Your preview image file must be:

  • PNG, JPG, or GIF format

  • Under 5 MB

A recommended size is 1200 x 630 pixels for the clearest results in social previews.

Saving your changes

Click Save in the URL meta details card to apply your changes. This applies to all four fields: your browser tab title, social media preview description, favicon, and preview image. Uploaded images are staged in the form as soon as you upload them, but they aren't saved to your workspace until you click Save.
