Your Dubsado account is deactivated when your subscription is canceled, most often because we weren't able to charge the card on file. Here's what that means for your account and how to get back up and running.
Why your account is deactivated
Dubsado automatically cancels your subscription and deactivates your account when it can't charge the card on file, whether that's from insufficient funds, an expired card, or another issue. Dubsado attempts the charge multiple times before deactivating your account. Read Dubsado's cancellation policy for more on refunds and data retention.
If you canceled your own subscription on purpose, that's a different path. See cancel your subscription if you want to check on a pending cancellation or reverse it before it takes effect.
What happens while your account is deactivated
While your account is deactivated, several parts of Dubsado stop working for you and your clients:
You can't create new projects.
Team members can't access the account.
All lead capture and public proposal forms deactivate. Clients can't submit them and see an error message instead.
All schedulers, both public and project schedulers, deactivate. Clients can't book an appointment and see an error message instead.
30 days after deactivation, synced email accounts disconnect.
30 days after deactivation, synced calendar accounts disconnect.
90 days after deactivation, Dubsado may delete your account data.
Data deleted after 90 days of deactivation can't be recovered. Reactivate your account before then to keep your account data.
Reactivate your account
Bring your account back online in two steps: update your card on file, then subscribe to a plan again.
Log in to Dubsado and navigate to Settings ➔ Billing. Only the workspace owner can access billing.
In the Payment information section, click Change payment method (this reads Add payment method if you don't have a card on file yet).
Enter your new card details and click Save card.
On the workspace's billing card, click Subscribe, then choose the plan that fits your business.
Updating your card on file alone doesn't reactivate your account. You still need to subscribe to a plan.
FAQ
Why was my account deactivated?
Dubsado couldn't charge the card on file, whether that's an expired card, insufficient funds, or something similar, after multiple attempts. When that happens, your subscription is canceled and your account is deactivated.
How do I reactivate my account?
Update your card on file from the Billing page, then click Subscribe and pick a plan. Both steps are required to bring your account back online.
Will I lose my data?
Not right away. Synced email and calendar accounts disconnect 30 days after deactivation, and Dubsado may delete your account data 90 days after deactivation. Reactivate before then to keep everything intact.
I canceled my subscription on purpose. Is this the same thing?
Deactivation is the state your account enters once a subscription ends, whether that ending was a failed card charge or a cancellation you made yourself. If you canceled and want to reverse it before your billing cycle ends, see cancel your subscription.
