Cancel your subscription

How to cancel a workspace's subscription, what happens to your account afterward, and how to reverse a cancellation before it takes effect.

Written by Trevor

If you need to cancel your Dubsado subscription, you can do it yourself from your billing settings. Here's how to cancel, what happens to your account afterward, and how to reverse a cancellation if you change your mind before it takes effect.

How to cancel your subscription

Only the workspace owner can access billing settings, so if you don't see the options below, you're not signed in as the owner.

  1. To open your billing settings, go to Settings ➔ Billing.

  2. Under the Plans heading, find the card for the workspace you want to cancel.

  3. On that workspace's card, click the Manage dropdown, then select Cancel plan.

  4. In the Cancel subscription? dialog, click Yes, cancel subscription to confirm, or No, keep subscription to back out.

Only the workspace owner can reach billing settings. If you don't see a Billing option in your Settings, you're not signed in as the owner.

What happens after you cancel

Cancelling doesn't cut off your access right away. Your workspace stays active until the end of your current billing cycle, and the cancellation dialog shows you the exact date it takes effect. If your subscription is already paused when you cancel, the cancellation takes effect immediately instead of waiting for the billing cycle to end.

Once the billing cycle ends:

  • If you're cancelling your primary workspace, all additional workspace and team member subscriptions are cancelled too.

  • If you're cancelling a workspace other than your primary one, any additional users on that workspace lose access as well.

  • You can no longer add new contacts or create new projects.

  • Lead captures, public proposals, and schedulers stop working.

  • Your email and calendar stay connected for an additional 30 days before disconnecting.

  • Dubsado maintains the right to delete your data after an additional 90 days.

If you use Xero, it's an exception to the timing above: your Xero connection disconnects immediately when you cancel, rather than waiting for the billing cycle to end.

Cancelling your primary workspace also cancels all additional workspaces and team subscriptions. If you'd rather keep a different workspace active, contact Customer Care before cancelling so they can reassign your primary workspace instead.

If you want a different workspace to remain your primary one instead of cancelling everything, this isn't something you can do yourself. Reach out to Customer Care through in-app chat or at hello@dubsado.com and they'll take care of it.

Once your billing cycle ends, your workspace becomes deactivated. Review Dubsado's cancellation policy for more on refunds, data, and trial accounts.

Change your mind? Reverse a scheduled cancellation

If you cancel and then change your mind, you can reverse it yourself as long as the billing cycle hasn't ended yet. Once you cancel, the workspace's card shows a Cancellation pending status along with an Active until date so you always know where things stand.

To reverse a pending cancellation:

  1. Go back to the Billing page.

  2. On the workspace's card, open the Manage dropdown.

  3. Select Resubscribe.

  4. In the Resubscribe? dialog, review the next payment amount and date, then click Resubscribe to confirm.

Your workspace stays active and picks back up on its original billing cycle, no need to contact Customer Care.

You can only reverse a cancellation while it's still pending, before the billing cycle ends. After that, the workspace is fully cancelled and you'd need to subscribe again as a new subscription.

FAQ

Who can cancel a subscription?

Only the workspace owner. Billing settings are owner-only, so Admins and other team members can't access them or cancel a subscription.

When does my cancellation take effect?

At the end of your current billing cycle, not immediately. You keep access until then, and the cancellation dialog shows the exact date. The one exception is a subscription that's already paused, which cancels right away instead of waiting for the cycle to end.

What happens to my additional workspaces?

Cancelling your primary workspace cancels all additional workspaces and team subscriptions along with it. If you want to keep a different workspace active, contact Customer Care before cancelling so they can reassign your primary workspace.

Can I undo a cancellation?

Yes, as long as it's still pending. Open Setting ➔ Billing and then Manage ➔ Resubscribe on the workspace's card any time before the billing cycle ends.

What happens to my data after cancellation?

Your email and calendar stay connected for 30 days after the billing cycle ends, then disconnect. Dubsado maintains the right to delete your data after an additional 90 days. Check the cancellation policy for full details on refunds, data, and trial accounts.
