Using a project’s invoices tab you can create, edit, and send invoices, right from the app!

To get started, select a project from the main Projects page, and then tap Invoices at the top of your screen.

Project invoices

When you first navigate to a project’s invoices tab, you’ll land on the invoices sub-tab. All invoices that exist in the project are displayed, with the oldest invoice listed at top of the screen and newer invoices listed below.

Each invoice’s card lists the invoice number, invoice title (if a title is set), invoice date, the status of the invoice, and the invoice’s total.

Invoice statuses

There are four possible invoice statuses:

  • Unpaid: no payments have been applied to this invoice yet.

  • In progress: at least one payment has been applied to the invoice and the invoice has a remainder.

  • Overdue: the invoice has a remainder that has gone unpaid past its payment plan’s due date.

  • Paid: the invoice’s remainder equals $0.

Invoice quick actions

From the invoices sub-tab, tap the three dots (…) icon on an invoice’s card to access a few quick actions:

  • Tap Make this invoice primary to set the selected invoice as the project’s primary invoice

  • Tap Send to open a new email message containing a link to the invoice

  • Tap Copy link to copy the URL of the selected invoice

  • Tap View invoice to view the invoice within the app

Keep in mind that only one invoice per project can be marked as the primary invoice at a time. You won’t see the Make this invoice primary option if you tap the three dots icon associated with the project’s current primary invoice.

Create a new invoice

To open a new invoice in a project, tap +New invoice in the upper right side of the screen within the invoices sub-tab.

When a new invoice is created, you can tap New item to manually add a new line item to the invoice, or you can tap Select a package to add an existing package template to the invoice.

View and edit an individual invoice

To view and edit an invoice, tap anywhere on its card from the invoice sub-tab.

When viewing an individual invoice, the information is broken down into three sections: Items, Payment plan, and Transactions.

At the top of the page, the invoice number, title, and date are shown, along with the invoice total and a progress bar depicting the client’s payment progress. These invoice details are always displayed at the top of the page, regardless of which section (Items, Payment plan, or Transactions) that you’re viewing.

Tap the Pencil icon to change the invoice number, invoice date, invoice title, or add a note on the invoice by tapping +Add note to client.

You can also tap the vertical three dots icon in the top right corner of the page to send the invoice, copy its URL, or view the invoice.

Invoice items

The items section of an invoice displays all of the invoice’s line items, as well as the invoice’s subtotal, tax, and grand total. Each line item listed will show its title, quantity, subtotal, tax (if applicable), description, and income category.

Here, you can edit, duplicate, or delete existing line items, add new line items, and apply discounts.

  1. Tap any line item to edit that line item.

  2. Tap the three dots (…) icon on a line item to edit, duplicate, or delete that line item.

  3. Tap +Add Item to create a new line item manually or select a package.

  4. Tap Apply discount to select a discount to apply to the invoice or line item(s).

Editing a line item, either by tapping the line item itself or by selecting Edit from the three dots icon, allows you to update the line item’s name, description, quantity, price, income category, and tax rate.
