Dubsado offers a free trial so you can explore the platform before committing to a paid subscription. This article covers how the trial works, what's included, and what happens when your trial ends.
How the free trial works
When you create a new Dubsado account, you automatically start a 21-day free trial. During this time, you have access to all Premier plan features with no restrictions on the number of clients or projects you can create.
Your trial begins the moment you create your account, and you can subscribe to a paid plan at any time during the trial period.
What's included in your trial
During your 21-day trial, you have access to:
All Premier plan features
Unlimited clients and contacts
Unlimited projects
Up to 3 team members
Integrations including QuickBooks, Xero, and Zapier
CSV client import functionality
Full access to workflows, schedulers, invoicing, forms, and all other Dubsado tools
Trial limitations
While on a free trial, you can only have one active trial brand at a time. If you need multiple brands, you'll need to subscribe to a paid plan first.
What happens when your trial ends
If you do not subscribe to a paid plan within the 21-day trial period, your trial expires and the following restrictions take effect:
Client-facing restrictions:
Clients cannot pay invoices
Clients cannot submit forms
Clients cannot sign contracts
Clients cannot book appointments
Clients cannot access the client portal
Communication and automation restrictions:
Emails will not be sent to clients (manual or automatic)
All workflows will pause
All time trackers will pause
Recurring invoices will be turned off
Autopay will be turned off
Account restrictions:
You cannot add new clients
You cannot create new projects
You cannot edit templates
You cannot edit project or client documents
Bookkeeping integrations (QuickBooks, Xero) will be disconnected
Your existing data remains in the system, and you can log in to export your projects, clients, transactions, and invoices. Payment processors and email/calendar integrations remain connected for 30 days after expiration.

You can subscribe to a paid plan at any time during your trial. Dubsado does not automatically charge you when your trial expires—you must actively choose to subscribe.

Converting a legacy trial to Dubsado 3.0
If you created your Dubsado account before November 17, 2025, you may have a legacy trial account. Legacy trials were client-based (limited to 3 clients) rather than time-based.
When you access one of your existing trial brands in Dubsado 3.0 by navigating to app.dubsado.com, you'll be prompted to convert your legacy trial to a 3.0 trial.
Converting your trial provides the following benefits:
Your trial becomes time-based with a 45-day limit (instead of the standard 21 days for new accounts)
The 3-client limit is removed, allowing unlimited clients
You gain access to all Premier plan features, including team members and integrations
All of your existing data—clients, projects, invoices, forms, workflows, tasks, emails, and calendar events—is retained when you convert.
After converting, you can still access the legacy interface at hello.dubsado.com, but the 45-day time limit applies regardless of which interface you use. Once you convert, the time-based trial cannot be reverted to a client-based trial.
If you have multiple legacy trial brands, each brand can be converted independently with its own 45-day trial period.
