Collect files from your clients directly on a Dubsado form using the file uploader element. Add it to a questionnaire, proposal, or lead capture form to gather images, documents, PDFs, and other files up to 8 MB each.
Add a file uploader to a form
The file uploader element is available on questionnaires, proposals, and lead capture forms. It is not available on contracts or sub-agreements.
Navigate to Forms β Form templates.
Open an existing form template or create a new one (questionnaire, proposal, or lead capture).
In the form builder, find File Uploader in the Elements panel.
Click it or drag it onto the form canvas.
Click the file uploader element on the canvas to open its settings.
File uploader settings
When you select a file uploader element on the canvas, its settings appear under the heading Edit file uploader in the left-hand panel. There are two settings you can configure.
Allow multiple file
Toggle this to Yes to let your client upload more than one file. Toggle it to No to limit the upload to a single file. When set to a single file, the client must remove the current file before uploading a different one.
The default setting is Yes (multiple files allowed).
Allowed file types
Choose between two options:
Any β Accepts all file types.
Image β Restricts uploads to image files only (PNG, JPG, and GIF).
The default setting is Any.
Each file must be under 8 MB. Most images, PDFs, and documents work well. Videos typically exceed 8 MB and may not upload successfully.
Accessing and downloading uploaded files
After a client completes a form, you can access their uploaded files from the form response summary or the form preview.
From the form response summary
Open the project and click the Forms tab, or navigate to Forms β All Forms and find the completed form.
Select the completed form.
Click the Responses tab.
Scroll to the File upload field in the responses table.
Click any file thumbnail to open it in a new tab.
To download all files from that field at once, click Download all.
Image files display thumbnail previews, while non-image files show a file icon.
For more details on working with form responses, see Using form response summaries.
From the form preview
Follow the same navigation to reach the completed form.
Click the Preview tab to see the full form layout.
Scroll to the file uploader section.
Click each file to open it in a new tab, then download from there.
FAQ
What is the file size limit?
Each file must be under 8 MB. Files such as images, PDFs, and documents work well with the file uploader. Videos may not upload because most video files exceed 8 MB.
Can clients upload files directly to the client portal?
Clients cannot upload files directly through the client portal. To collect files from a client, add a file uploader element to a form and send the form to the client. Or, clients can upload files on a shared task board.
Is there a way to download all uploaded files at once?
Within a single file upload field on the form response summary, you can click Download all to download every file from that field. There is no option to bulk download files across multiple forms or multiple file upload fields.
What can I do if my client needs to upload files larger than 8 MB?
For large files or a high volume of files, share a link to a cloud storage folder (such as Google Drive or Dropbox) where your client can upload directly. You can include the link in a form or email, or send it to the client through a one-time form link from the project's Forms tab.
